I am pleased to introduce a new one! This song was birthed from my initial meditations (and intuitive meanderings!) on modular synthesis. After a frame was laid before me I began to flesh the song out by making pass after pass, each layer providing inspiration for the next. As an all instrumental track, it was an opportunity for me to build a space from instrumentation and sound sculpting alone. It was an adventure to create and is a pleasure to share.
You may stream the song using the player above, or download a copy for yourself for a couple of bucks (or more should you so choose) by taking the link, disguised as the song's orange imbued title, to the bandcamp page. The money I take in goes strictly toward the creation of more music - a direction I will head in regardless. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!
Nearing four years since the last update, I have a little something to share. The songs that were to make up the EP "Back from Here" are not near completion. The song that was meant to open the project is, however. I have had the pleasure of working with Audible Oddities for the purpose of mastering both Blue Star and the aforementioned project opener. I felt it was important for me to release more of my completed work. I also felt it was important to do the work justice by involving a professional mastering engineer to add that final layer of polish. With all of that said, please take the link through the artwork below and have a listen to Null Ground.
If you enjoy and are interested in downloading the files for both Null Ground and the newly remastered version of Blue Star, I should have an option to do that soon enough.
Successfully, and inadvertently, this site went an entire year without an update. The completion of my graduate studies is visible, only a few strenuous months away. This will likely mean more energy available for musical focus. I do have something exciting to share, however.
Despite my musical hiatus, a prolific and quite talented musician named Jamie Watts has remixed Blue Star. He releases work primarily under the moniker KiloWatts, but has been behind a number of other projects. He added his own particular, and beautiful touch to the song. Of particular note, Jamie did some quite interesting work with the Satie influenced, free-tempo, latter half of the original song. The remix is available to stream, or to download by visiting my soundcloud account. Just click on the picture below!
Until next time.
Learning, still and always. A recent instrument upgrade has changed the way I write. Work on the project has sprawled over such a wide span of time, maintaining its focus has been an interesting endeavor. That said, I am now able to produce sounds I only dreamed of, years ago. A world of exploration and education lies ahead. Both will inform moments of creation, while I attempt to maintain a semblance of uniformity to that which is ever-changing.
I have been writing and recording slowly. Though the time constraints can be frustrating, they only work to make what I create better. So...speaking of that, hopefully I'll have something to share sometime. That would be nice.
Here's to what is.
I have opened a merchandise shop via Spreadshirt. Before unveiling it, I decided to order a test print to get an idea of the quality. Conclusion: the quality is great! I designed a number of shirts in an attempt to satiate the desired style of anybody interested. I am working on a vector version of the ubiquitter logo to widen the variety of what is offered. Many of the shirts contain lyrics and ideas from music that has yet to be heard. Isn't that neat? It's contrarian and hip. It's perfect for our new (insert present year here) paradigm.
In other news, as some may have noticed, there has been a site redesign. The white, clinical appearance of the initial incarnation failed to fully pluck my happy strings. Thankfully, the strings are currently strumming with fervor, in light of the new design. Speaking of things musically inclined, I should have some time opening up in about a month and a half. It's very likely I'll be using that additional time to work on the LP. Things on the musical front have been at a bit of a standstill. I am currently doing research on the psychological effects of sound and spacial location. I think my findings will inform how I write and enhance the music I create! Until I'm done, enjoy perplexing people with the concept of Ubiquitter via the clever garments offered in the shop! Also, adjust the picture on the wall over there, it looks crooked.
Today, "Blue Star" sees its release! In a way, it's a bit of a tease. Work on the entire LP is, as of now slow going. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree, which is limiting the amount of time I can spend working on music. The good part is, the pursuit is directly informing the project itself and enhancing its scope. The bad news is, there will likely be a significant amount of time passed before the LP sees a release. Truly, I just wanted to share a bit of what I have been working on. This project means a lot to me and I hope that the meaning extends itself to those having a listen. Currently, the song is available as a pay what you will download on bandcamp. To download, just take the link from the bandcamp button at the top of the page, or click "download" on the streamer above. For those who choose a zero dollar amount, it will prompt you for an email address, which I will use only to notify you of the release of more material. Don't hesitate to follow me on twitter and "like" me on facebook.
Thank you for visiting the newly established internet home of Ubiquitter. The current musical project has been in development for a number of years. Initially, the project consisted of two songs backed by a rich, yet unshared narrative. Not satisfied with an expression of only two songs, I decided to give flesh to the narrative by adding a musical middle to the beginning and end. The story has since become ever the richer. Because of this, the musical project has grown from a 3 track EP to a 7 song LP. The songs weave in and out of each other seamlessly and were written more as movements to a single piece than as individual tracks. That said, there is a song that resides squarely in the middle of the project which found completion back in the Summer of 2009. Out of the 4 songs that currently exist in their finished form, this particular track has begged to be released ahead of time. Its title is "Blue Star" and it will be released as a free download very soon.
